1. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras
Madras is ranked number one in the list of Top 10 IIT Colleges in India. IIT Madras was established in 1959. It is counted among the highest educational institutions not only in India but in the world. IIT-Madras is a residential institution with about 550 faculty, 8000 students and 1200 administrative and support staff and is a self-contained campus located in a beautiful land of about 250 hectares. The campus is located in the city of Chennai, formerly known as Madras.
2. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi
Delhi has been placed at number four in the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India. IIT-DELHI was created in 1961. Since then, IIT-DELHI has been ranked among the best institutes in the country. Established in 1961 as the College of Engineering at Delhi, the institute was later declared as an Institute of National Importance under the ‘Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963’ and renamed as ‘Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi’ been done.
3. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay
Bombay has been placed at number three in the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India. IIT – Bombay was established in 1958. Many personalities have emerged from Bombay who has brought laurels to the country in every field. IIT Bombay was the first IIT to be established with foreign aid. This IIT-Bombay got funding from UNESCO in the form of Rubles, the currency of the then Soviet Union. IIT was declared an ‘Institution of National Importance by the Parliament in 1961. Since then, IIT – BOMBAY has emerged as one of the top technical universities in the world.
4. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur
Kanpur has been included in the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India at number four. IIT-Kanpur was established in 1959. This was done under the auspices of the collaboration between the US and India in collaboration with nine US universities. IIT-Kanpur has emerged as a premier Indian technical institute primarily focused on research and graduate education in science and engineering. In the year 1963, this place was shifted to its present location.
5. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
Kharagpur has been placed at number five in the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India. It is the oldest IIT institute which was created in 1951 by the Government of India. The Government of India has officially recognized it as an Institute of National Importance and is counted among the best engineering institutes in India. IIT-Kharagpur was established after India’s independence in 1947 to train scientists and engineers of the highest order. Its area is the largest among all the IIT in India. Along with this, the number of departments and students is also the highest here.
6. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee
Roorkee has been placed at number six in the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India. IIT-Roorkee was earlier named as College of Civil Engineering at Roorkee (1847 – 1853). After this it was named Thomson College of Civil Engineering (1853 – 1948) then Roorkee University (1948 – 2001). And in 2001 its name was changed to Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee which is its present form. It is in Roorkee, Uttarakhand state. This institute holds its place among the best technology institutes in the world. It has contributed to all areas of technology development.
7. Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati
In the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India, Guwahati has been placed at number seven in this list. It is the seventh IIT institute to be included in the top ten. IIT – Guwahati was established in 1994. It is the only college in the Northeast. The academic program of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati started in 1995. Presently the institute has eleven departments covering all major engineering, science and five inter-disciplinary academic centers. and Humanities, offering BTech, BDS, MA, MDS, MTech, MSc and Ph.D. programs.
8. Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad
Hyderabad is ranked eighth in the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India. It is the eighth IIT institute to be included in the top ten. It was established in 2008. IIT – Hyderabad is one of the second generations of IITs launched by the government. The foundation of IIT Hyderabad is based on research and innovation. Today IIT -HYDERABAD.Tech offers M.Tech, M.Sc M.Phil, M.Des and Ph.D. Offers programs in all branches of engineering, science, art and design. The vibrant research culture is evident from the number of patents and publications of IIT-Hyderabad. Students in IITs are given a plethora of options, which they choose carefully with the help of a faculty advisor. The semester-long courses are almost an earlier story at IIT Hyderabad.
9. Indian Institute of Technology, Tiruchi
The top 10 IIT colleges of India have been placed at ninth place in this list. It is the largest engineering university in Tamil Nadu. This university was established in 1964 at Tiruchirapalli. Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli (IIITT), also known as IIT-TRICHY, is an institute of national importance and is one of the 21 IIIT proposed under the MHRD’s non-profit public-private partnership (PPP) model. ITT is an educational and research institute wholly owned by Government of India, the Government of Tamil Nadu and industry partners in the ratio of 50:35:15. Industry partners include Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Ramco Systems. It operates with the help of private partners like these.
10. Indian Institute of Technology, Indore
In the list of top 10 IIT colleges in India, the Indian Institute of Technology Indore has been placed at the tenth position. This university was established in 2009. In keeping with India’s vision to become a world leader in science and technology and usher in a new revolution that resulted in unprecedented economic growth, the Indian government re-evaluated the need for technical manpower. and decided to set up eight new IITs. Six of them started functioning from the academic year 2008 – 2009. These were established in Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Rajasthan, Ropar, Patna and Bhubaneshwar. Indore and Mandi started functioning in July 2009.
